Geftinat (Gefitinib) is a signal transduction inhibitor. Geftinat is categorized as targeted therapy which means to target the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor

Geftinat is the prescription medicine; it should be used only for the patients who are having valid prescription from medical oncologist

Geftinat is a chemo drug, it should not be self medicated by the patients

Geftinat Geftinat ideally indicated for;

In Advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer

Geftinat is used only after failure of both platinum based and taxane based chemotherapies

How to administer Geftinat tablets;

In Adults

Geftinat tablets are used in the conditions like advanced non-small cell lung cancer

The usual prescribed dose of Geftinat tablets are 250mg should be administer orally as a single dose with or without food

If patient found difficult to swallow the Geftinat tablets means, it should be dispersed in 4 to 8 ounces of plain uncarbonated water and drink the solution immediately

In Pediatric

The safety and efficacy of tablet Geftinat has not been fixed in pediatric patients

Dosage Modification

Elevation of Alt & AST.
Diarrhea, ocular disorders, skin reactions.
Acute onset or worsening pulmonary symptoms.

Permanently stop to take the Tablet Geftinat if patient having these conditions;

In case of concurrent use with strong CYP3A4 inducers;

Increase the dosage of Geftinat tablet to 500mg orally as a single dose, if no adverse reaction produces

Again restart to 250mg orally as a single dose after discontinuation of CYP3A4 strong inducers

Geftinat should not be taken with antacids to reduce the effect of gefitinib

Drug interaction of Geftinat tablet; ;

These are some drugs which will interfere with serum concentration of cytochrome isoenzymes

H2 receptor antagonist and proton pump inhibitors: Concomitant with Geftinat, depletes the serum concentration of Gefitinib

Antacids: reduce the serum concentration of Gefitinib

Aprepitant: elevation of serum concentration of CYP3A4 substrates ;

Abiraterone acetate: raise the serum concentration of CYP2D6 substrates ;

Elevation the serum concentration of CYP2D6 substrates;

Geftinat elevates the anti-coagulant effect of vitamin K antagonist like warfarin
Asunaprevir, Bosentan, Ceritinib, cobicistat, conivaptan, CYP2D6 inhibitors (moderate and strong), CYP3A4 inducers (moderate and strong), CYP3A4 inhibitors (moderate and strong), Dabrafenib, darunavir, dasatinib, deferasirox, Enzalutamide, fosaprepitant ;

Contraindication occurs in Geftinat tablets ;

Geftinat tablets are contraindicated; ;

Geftinat tablets are contraindicated to pregnant ;

If patient taking Geftinat tablet, they may have chance to get anaphylactic reactions

Geftinat tablet in pregnancy and lactation condition; ;
